Quality of streets and pavements a concernA theme which runs through all the areas of the Ward is the poor state of some of our roads and pavements. I’m not convinced that the materials that are used are adequate; saving a penny, but costing a pound. This all needs to be reviewed, but the main problem may be a lack of attention to detail. It may be a detail to the Council, but it is important to people who live in a street, and absolutely critical to an elderly person who falls and injuries him or herself.
I’m grateful to John Harrison, the Mayor,
who visited the area at my invitation a couple of
weeks ago. I was able to point out many problems
in the Ward, including poor roads and pavements.
Of course, some roads are worse than
others, and need more urgent attention.
Cauldwell Avenue is one of the worst, and the
photograph shows concerned residents explaining
the problems to John and myself. We are
grateful to them.
