You will remember that this is the street beside the fish and chip shop in Monkseaton Village, where I am really worried that there will be a serious accident unless something is done. One response we got from a council official read as follows:

“We are presently engaged in examination of all the Council’s Traffic Regulation Orders with a view to making a new Consolidation Order as part of our aim of introducing DPE. Any and all of the existing restrictions will be examined as part of that works”.

Do you make sense of that? I am sure it is clear to the person who wrote it, but it gives no comfort to us in Monkseaton who have an urgent problem that needs solving quickly. Fortunately, I met John Harrison, the Mayor, on the site on 18th February, and he sees what we are on about, so I’m hopeful that something will start to be done now.
